A playful and comfortable collection with an impressively soft sole. The 5.8cm thick Vibram® sole is combined with a high-resilience urethane insole and a cork midsole to create the softest feel ever. Made from environmentally friendly ethical faux leather.

INSPIRED BY "AKARI"
The multiple stitch lines and soft canvas texture placed throughout the piece are designed to echo the supple curves of the bamboo sticks and the warmth of the washi paper in Isamu Noguchi's light sculpture "AKARI." To give the piece a playful feel, stitches in a different color from the fabric are placed.

OAO's "SUNLIGHT" was born from learning about Noguchi's life and personality and the background of the birth of "AKARI". The multiple stitches on the upper are based on the organic lines of the bamboo sticks of "AKARI" and are designed to resonate with Noguchi's gentle, childlike sense of inquiry and playfulness.
It is our hope that through the shoes we wear every day, they will gently illuminate our lives from the feet up and make each day brighter and more radiant.

The new sole combines Vibram's new EVA compound material, which enhances softness and lightness, with TPU parts that create stability when walking.

High-resilience urethane insole: High-resilience insole is used to support the push-off when walking. It increases the propulsion force when walking.

・Cork insole The insole is made of thick natural cork material. It is soft on the feet and has the moisture absorption and deodorizing properties unique to natural materials.

With this commitment in mind, the sole newly adopted for the OAO is the new, particularly thick sole "PROJECT X" from Vibram, an Italian sole manufacturer with a long history of success in the outdoor scene and with maison brands.
The thick sole has excellent cushioning and resilience, providing a soft feel and functional benefits such as cushioning that reduces strain on the feet and fatigue.

"PROJECT X" is a special sole developed in collaboration between The Footsoldiers, a design consultancy specializing in footwear design and serving a variety of well-known global brands as clients, Vibram, and several other leading suppliers in the footwear industry.

The biggest appeal of "PROJECT X" is the unparalleled cushioning and high rebound power provided by its approximately 5.8cm thick sole.
The midsole, which boasts particularly high cushioning among Vibram's products, absorbs shocks when walking and converts them into repulsive force, creating a unique floating sensation that is almost like bouncing. In addition to this sole, OAO combines a high-resilience urethane insole and a midsole made of natural cork to create an even softer, floating sensation.
In addition, the special design combines a wide outsole that curves upward in all directions with TPU parts that support the arch of the foot, providing a level of stability that is hard to believe considering the thick sole, and ensuring comfort that makes it easy to stand for long periods of time without getting tired.
The soft feel of these shoes will help you forget the hardness of the city's concrete and the fatigue of a day's travel, providing a comfortable sense of security in your daily life.

CUSHIONING INSOLE SYSTEM
OAO insoles provide lasting comfort

The insoles installed in our shoes are original products made by OAO. They are made of high-density EVA material, which provides high resilience and good bounce.
Combined with Vibram's soft sole with excellent cushioning, it provides both a comfortable fit and the ability to walk all day without getting tired. In addition, the arch support shape is designed to suit the foot shape common to Japanese and Asian people, supporting walking and naturally encouraging walking in a posture that is less tiring.

Tips for choosing the size As the cork gradually sinks in, the shoes will feel a little looser than when you first put them on. Please choose your regular sneaker size.
