Hasami ware has been produced for about 400 years in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, one of Japan's leading ceramic manufacturing regions. HASAMI PORCELAIN is a global tableware brand jointly developed by Saikai Toki, a long-established Hasami ware trading company, and LA-based designer Takuhiro Shinomoto (tortoise).
"THE GREY COLLECTION" is a collection made up of grey porcelain.
The outside has a sharp grey texture all the way to the edges, while the inside is coated with glaze for a smooth, glossy look. The contrast between these textures is striking.
The plates are designed to be half the height of those in the original collection to make it easier to see the food.
The glossy glazed interior allows for smooth use of metal cutlery without any snagging.
Inspired by traditional Japanese stacked boxes, the design features clean, straight lines. Not only does it look good, it is dishwasher and microwave safe, and stackable for easy use. Enjoy the warm, unique texture and functional beauty.

A small plate measuring 8.5cm x 1.2cm.
It is perfect for storing soy sauce or other sauces, chopped green onions as a condiment, boiled vegetables, pickles, etc.

The base of HASAMI PORCELAIN is made by mixing natural Amakusa pottery stone with clay in a unique ratio. It is fired hard at high temperatures, a process unique to Hasami ware, and carefully crafted by skilled craftsmen.

The design makes use of straight lines, inspired by traditional Japanese stacked boxes. Individual items can be stacked to store beautifully. It is recommended to use it as a single item, or as part of the HASAMI PORCELAIN tableware series.
